Little Bear Westsail 32 refit: Finishing thru-hulls & helping a neighbour Blog #86

Arrrrr me hearties. Welcome aboard.

Today was day five of the intensive refit. I didn’t get as much accomplished as I’d wanted to, but that’s ok. Sometimes you have to put your projects on hold for others.

In this vid you’ll notice that I turn in the through hulls with a tool & a long (about 3` bar) for leverage.  I emailed Groco to ask how much torque these fittings can take and they said “a lot”.  I have seen on other channels that you don’t want to put too much pressure on them but Groco says “a lot” so “a lot” is what they got. The threads didn’t strip and I”m quite confident that those bad boys are in there nice `n snug.

As far as my neighbour goes, well I felt bad for him as he was all stoked to go sailing and then discovered a major problem with his boat. I won’t go into the details here because I basically explain what happened in the video. But rest assured you wouldn’t want this to happen to your boat. I know I wouldn’t want it to happen to mine.

As always fair winds, following seas, and God bless.
