Little Bear Westsail 32 refit: Bowsprit work & New backing plates Blog #77

Arrrrr me hearties. Welcome aboard.

Drilling holes in wood is not a simple as one would think. I may not have the correct drill bits or or perhaps there’s some mysterious wood sprites that need to be exorcised before the wood can be drilled successfully.  What seems to be happening is that as the bit goes through the material, it drifts off-center so the alignment doesn’t happen quite like I want it to.

I had my G-10 laminate material cut with a waterjet cutter for the backing plates that will support the seacocks. Being a total noob (newb) to such endeavours, I was unaware that this material is tricky to cut with a waterjet. It delaminated. Serious bummer. What to do? What would you do?

As always fair winds, following seas, and God bless.
